The topic is timely, given Obama’s initiative to offer the public healthcare at affordable prices. Our country’s financial crisis was due in part by the unabashed greed and corruption of a “profits at any cost” philosophy. American businesses need the competitive edge that a public healthcare option would provide. Big pharmaceuticals, HMOs and the healthcare industry pour millions into lobbying to maintain the status quo. They are protecting their bottom line while making basic healthcare out of reach for working families.

C'mon Dave, no comment on the proposed law waiting for the governor's signature (S5661/A.8501)? The mayor commented on it in the village meeting this week. The law empowers citizens to move along consolidation efforts, heck we can even eliminate the village government. Ol' Bob seems upset that the people are getting back some power. We can now force his hand to finish what he promised to do when he first ran. He seems concerned that this will allow poorly planned consolidation and cost us $$$, quite ironic as he has already botched the police consolidation by violating the law and opening us (the village taxpayers) to a huge lawsuit. History has a strange way of repeating itself in this town.
